Initial Screening Appointment

A non-refundable Initial Screening Appointment is required for new students seeking to book Ms. Ellen’s academic services. Book a remote appointment directly using this page (mobile view: book at bottom of this page; desktop view: book on right side of this page). 60-minute screening appointments are available on Fridays. To protect client privacy, Ms. Ellen will send each client a Google Meet invite separately via email after an appointment or series is purchased. Based on the initial screening and family preferences, Ms. Ellen will create a recurring schedule of services for a semester and bill families directly (not on this website). Visit Mindful Youth LLC’s contact page and fill out the form to learn more. All services offered by Mindful Youth LLC fall under the category of academic services and therefore are not covered by any insurance.

In-person Option

In-person services and indoor events led by Ms. Ellen are available on weekdays and weekends. Average cost for in-person tutoring is $75 per student. See Price Sharing section to share costs with other families (for example, two families can share the cost for an hour lesson). Visit Mindful Youth LLC’s “Contact” page and fill out the form to learn more information. Ms. Ellen is triple-Pfizer vaccinated and bivalent boosted against COVID-19.

Remote Option

Remote academic tutoring is available on weekdays. Long-term Individual 1:1 tutoring is $100/hour and tutoring in 1:1 social skills tutoring is $50/half-hour. See price-sharing options below for small group rates.

PRICE SHARING

Price sharing reduces the cost of special academic instruction via a small group format. The two-student format is the most popular and effective. Price-sharing is billed in advance per semester and must be received in full before the first session. Maximum class size of sessions are determined by the level of student instructional needs and parent preferences.

2+ students: $75 per family for in-person tutoring or $50 per family for remote tutoring (each family pays for half of the hour, recommended for social skills development). Hybrid price-shared instruction options are also available.

SFBA SOCIAL SKILLS PROGRAMS

Ms. Ellen’s social skills programs are an SF Bay Area regional social safety net designed for upper elementary students, tweens, high school and college students with autism but are inclusive and open to any students who are bullied, isolated or who need prosocial development. Families can book a screening appointment for one of Ms. Ellen’s ongoing custom social skills programs, where she matches students from counties throughout SFBA based on common needs, abilities and interests. Private 1:2 (one teacher, two students) programs are designed to stretch students socially where they need it most and prepare them for larger in-person social skills programs. Visit this website’s Community page and ASD Social Skills page for more information.

MINDFULNESS EVENTS

To book private mindfulness meditation lessons ($50 per class; $500 per 1:1 series) throughout the year, book an initial screening appointment on this page. Public programs for mindfulness are on hold at the moment due to concerns about AI development’s predatory business practices. Once the US Congress passes new legislation guaranteeing AI protections for all human work (based on President Biden’s executive order now in place), the public offerings for remote mindfulness lessons will resume. Register directly on this website for upcoming mindfulness programs as they become available on the meditation page of this website.

APPOINTMENT AVAILABILITY

This website calendar allows clients to book their own initial screening appointments up to 2 weeks in advance. After screening is complete, clients are booked into ongoing instruction appointments directly by Ms. Ellen.

RESCHEDULE OR CANCEL

Contact Ms. Ellen directly at mindfulyouth@comcast.net to cancel or reschedule sessions. A maximum of two lessons can be rescheduled per semester. In-person events can only be rescheduled for 1:2 participants who all agree to rescheduling. Bigger group events are non-refundable.

Mindful Youth LLC’s Commitment to Privacy

Until the development of AI is regulated to ensure rights to privacy, identity and creative copyright, Ms. Ellen will never allow the use of AI in her programs nor the recording of students. Recording via EdTech company platforms enables AI to replicate an individual’s biometric data and voice that may be used for future identity theft. Nor will Ms. Ellen use tech platforms that offer free education services in exchange for the rights to identity and the creative ideas of students and teachers with no transparency about that EdTech intention except in the fine print of Terms and Conditions. Technology should always be developed to assist humans, not replace them. Until that line is drawn via national and state laws, Ms. Ellen recommends protecting students from all AI platforms that record students. Since 2011, Mindful Youth has protected student privacy by never publishing photos of actual students as a marketing tool. Ms. Ellen’s commitment to privacy - and to practical and safe tech-blended learning - will continue as this new tech age evolves.
